The Spokane County Jail Roster
The main tool is the Spokane County Detention Services inmate roster, a free public list of people held by the county. It is updated through the day, and the page header shows the date and the last update time. You can also reach it from the county Inmate Roster page, which explains the tool and links to related jail services.
The roster opens with three tabs. One shows current inmates, one shows recent bookings, and one shows recent releases. An A-Z filter narrows the list by the first letter of the last name. The roster covers people in custody of Detention Services across both facilities.
The live roster lists each inmate with a book number, a custody status, and a bond figure.
The county roster home page lays out the tabs and the alphabet filter near the top of the screen, as seen on the live Detention Services roster.
From there you pick a tab, then filter by letter or scroll to the name you want.
Spokane County Inmate Records Search Fields
The roster is less a typed search box and more a set of filters and result columns. You choose a tab, then a letter, and the list updates. Each row carries the data points the county chooses to publish. The table below lists the controls and columns you will use on a Spokane County inmate search.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current Inmates | Tab/button | Optional | Shows everyone in custody right now. |
| Recent Bookings | Tab/button | Optional | Shows people booked in lately. |
| Recent Releases | Tab/button | Optional | Shows people let out lately. |
| A-Z filter | Letter buttons | Optional | Limits the list by first letter of last name, or All. |
| Inmate Name | Result link | n/a | Click the name to open the custody profile. |
| Book Number | Result column | n/a | The booking ID, such as 260006362. |
| Status | Result column | n/a | Jail Inmate, Geiger Facility Inmate, or Geiger Facility EHM. |
| Bondable | Result column | n/a | YES, NO, or CALL. Call the jail when it reads CALL. |
| Total Bond | Result column | n/a | The bond amount in dollars. |
The Bondable column tells you if a person can be released once the listed bond is paid. EHM stands for electronic home monitoring. Those people are on community custody, watched by RF or GPS, and are not housed in a Detention Services facility.
The county roster page also explains the tool and what each status means, as covered on the county Inmate Roster page.
Read the status and bond columns together; both shape what happens next for a person in custody.
How to Use the Roster
A Spokane County inmate search runs in a few short steps. You do not need an account, and you do not pay to view the public list. The order below works whether you search by name or by book number.
- Open the Detention Services roster and pick a tab: Current Inmates, Recent Bookings, or Recent Releases.
- Use the A-Z filter to jump to the first letter of the last name, or click All.
- Scan the list for the name, the book number, and the custody status.
- Click the inmate name to open the full custody profile.
- Read the bond, the charges, and the case numbers shown on the profile.
- Call Detention Services when the Bondable column reads CALL or when you need more detail.
Treat the roster as current reference data, not a sworn record. The page warns people not to depend on it alone for safety. For ongoing alerts, the roster links to VINELink, the online version of the VINE notification service, which tracks custody status around the clock.
What a Spokane County Inmate Profile Shows
Click a name and the roster opens a custody profile. It is brief by design. The profile leads with a VINELink registration link, then the person's name and county ID, then booking detail and the charges tied to each case. The table below lists the fields a profile shows.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| VINELink link | A link to register for custody status alerts on this person. |
| Name | The inmate's full name as booked. |
| County ID | The local person ID used across bookings. |
| Booking # | The unique number for this stay in custody. |
| Intake Date | The date and time the person was booked in. |
| Case Numbers | One or more court case numbers tied to the booking. |
| Case Bond | The bond amount set on each case. |
| Bond Set By | The court that set the bond, such as Superior Court. |
| RCW Charges | The charge with a link to the state statute and a plain description. |
| Report Number | The report tied to each charge. |
| Report Agency | The agency that filed the report, such as Spokane City. |
What the profile does not show matters too. There is no mugshot in the detail output. There are no physical descriptors, so no age, height, weight, sex, race, hair, or eye fields appear. There is no pod or housing flag, and no scheduled court date; court dates live in the Court Viewer instead.
A sample profile shows the layout, with the VINELink link at the top and the charges grouped under each case, as seen on this sample inmate detail page.
Charges link out to the state code, so you can read the law behind each count.
Spokane County Detention Facilities
Spokane County Detention Services runs two facilities in the Spokane area. Together they hold a combined average daily population of more than 700 people. The main jail sits downtown, and the corrections center sits west of the city. Where a person is held shows up in the roster's Status column.
The county lists both sites and the role of each on its Detention Services Facilities page.
The contact cards below give the address and phone for each site. One key rule sets Geiger apart, which the county spells out on the Geiger Corrections Center page.
Spokane County Jail
1100 W Mallon Ave
Spokane, WA 99260
509-477-2278
Lobby 7 a.m.-9 p.m., closed 5-7 p.m.
Geiger Corrections Center

Mail cannot be received at Geiger.
Mail for either site goes to the central Detention Services address on West Mallon, not to the Geiger street address. Mail sent to Geiger directly will not reach the inmate.
Note: Geiger cannot receive mail at its physical address, so all inmate mail must use the central Detention Services mailing address on West Mallon Avenue.
Visiting a Spokane County Inmate
Visits run through Securus Video Connect, the county's non-contact visitation tool. To visit or to send money, a person sets up a Securus Technologies account. The account needs a photo ID, an email address, and a phone number. The county screens each application and approves or rejects it in about 24 hours, not counting weekends and holidays.
Remote visits last 30 minutes and cost $5 each, taken from the Securus prepaid account when you schedule. Free booths sit in the jail lobby and at the Geiger visiting center. Visits are a privilege, not a right, and the county can cancel or restrict them for misconduct. The table sums up the main rules.
| Rule / Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Provider | Securus Video Connect |
| Account needs | Photo ID, email, phone number |
| Approval time | About 24 hours, not counting weekends and holidays |
| Visit length | 30 minutes per remote visit |
| Remote visit cost | $5 from the Securus account |
| Scheduling window | At least 24 hours ahead, up to 10 days out |
| Cancellation | Cancel at least 2 hours before the visit |
| On-site kiosks | Free booths at jail lobby and Geiger visiting center |
| Jail lobby hours | 7 a.m.-9 p.m., closed 5-7 p.m. |
Family and friend visits are recorded and monitored. Properly registered attorney visits are not. There are no visits on listed holidays, which include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
The county lays out the full visiting rules and the holiday list on its Detention Services visiting page.
Visitor info must match the ID, and people with active warrants are denied entry.
Sending Money to a Spokane County Inmate
Funds can go to an inmate by mail or by deposit at the jail. Mail takes only certain instruments. The county accepts US Postal money orders, Western Union money orders, US Treasury checks, and cashier's checks under $500. It does not take cash through the mail at all.
Cash must be dropped at the Cashier's Window or a kiosk in the jail lobby or the Geiger visiting area. Money instruments should be made payable to the inmate, with the purchaser's full name and address shown. Mailed funds go to the inmate's name, Attn: Inmate Accounting, at the West Mallon address.
- US Postal and Western Union money orders are accepted by mail.
- US Treasury checks and cashier's checks under $500 are accepted.
- No cash by mail; deposit cash at the window or a kiosk.
- Make the instrument payable to the inmate.
- Mail funds to the inmate, Attn: Inmate Accounting, West Mallon Avenue.
Timing controls commissary. An inmate must have funds on account by 12:01 a.m. Monday to order that week. The deadline for Geiger inmates is 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. Commissary runs once a week, and items are held three days after a release.
The county explains accepted funds and the mailing rules on its Inmate Money page.
Always include a return address; instruments without one can be rejected.
Inmate Phones and Tablets
Spokane County contracts with Securus for inmate phone service, video visits, and tablets. Tablets can run phone calls, books and religious texts, education, job search, and entertainment such as music, movies, and games. The same Securus account that funds visits funds calls.
People set up service and add funds through Securus. The provider's support line is 1-800-844-6591. The county describes the phone and tablet program on its inmate telephone page.
Call costs and tablet features are set by the Securus contract, not by the roster.
Spokane County Jail Records and Confidentiality
The public roster is one thing; full jail records are another. Jail records are held in confidence under state law. To get specific inmate information beyond the roster, the county needs a signed waiver from the inmate or a court order signed by a judge. Valid identification is required as well.
That confidentiality rule comes from RCW 70.48.100, the state statute on city and county jail records. Requests for jail records are filed through the county public records process, not through the roster itself.
The county outlines how to request jail records and the waiver requirement on its Jail Records Release page.
The statute itself sets out the confidence rule, which you can read in full on the state legislature site.
So the roster is open, but the deeper file takes a waiver or a judge's order to release.
Note: Under RCW 70.48.100 the county will not release detailed jail records without a signed inmate waiver or a court order signed by a judge.
